Ffilmic Film Festival kicks off 24th - 25th October

The 2nd ffilmic film festival - 24th - 25th October- Theatr Llwyn, Llanfyllin, Powys, Wales

The 2nd ffilmic film festival opens it's doors on friday 24th October with an opening night screening of Buster Keaton's classic 'The Cameraman' with live piano accompaniment by Paul Shallcross.

The evening continues with a relaxed and informal 'After Hours launch event' at the Llanfyllin Workhouse featuring a selection of more cutting edge short films that highlight and complement the main programme.

Ffilmic is dedicated to bringing a diverse range of international film and moving image to rural audiences with a packed programme of features, shorts, documentaries, artist's videos and workshops throughout the saturday.




Cambridge International Super 8 Film Festival is now calling for entries

The Festival is now accepting submissions its next edition which will take place at the end of April 2009.

The Cambridge International Super 8 Film Festival, a unique short film festival, is looking for innovative and exciting films (shot on Super 8 or Single 8) from across the globe of any genre.

London Film Festival: Benicio Del Toro to give Screen Talk

The Times BFI 52nd London Film Festival is delighted to announce an addition to the 2008 programme, as a new wave of tickets go on sale.

Benicio Del Toro will participate in a Tiscali Screen Talk on Friday 24 October.

Multi award-winning actor Benicio Del Toro discusses his film career and gives us an insight into his astounding performance in our Tiscali Gala film CHE (Part 1 & Part 2).



The 5th Future Shorts Festival 'Fresh' Premiers in a Prison

Future Shorts have announced the line-up for their new world festival, ‘Fresh'. Now in its fifth year, the largest short film festival in the UK, Future Shorts will host screenings across over 30 cinemas and venues across the UK and 35 countries worldwide every quarter from October 2008. From November (7th - 26th) they will be supporting the Guillemots live tour, where the band will be exclusively rescoring a selection of Future Shorts films - beautifully fusing film and music in sixteen of the UK's most intriguing alternative venues.

The short film festival will premier to inmates at Wandsworth Prison on 11th October and includes a unique and exclusive collection of short films including Wes Anderson's charming and comical ‘Hotel Chevalier' starring Natalie Portman, a special preview of the Cinematic Orchestra's ‘To Build A Home', music videos from Gnarls Barkley, a secret film from Future Short's new DVD title ‘Adventures in Short Film' and Australian festival hit ‘I love Sarah Jane'.


Raindance hits 16 and opens with Choke

"The stormy skies cleared just in time for the launch of the 16th edition of the Raindance Film Festival, held Wednesday in London’s West End.

Opening the fest, which celebrates international and Brit indie cinema, was Clark Gregg’s debut film “Choke,” starring Sam Rockwell, Anjelica Huston and Kelly Macdonald.

“Tonight proved, once again, that despite rumors to the contrary, independent cinema is alive and well,” said fest director Elliot Grove to a packed house at the Cineworld Trocadero, adding that “we could have sold out tonight’s event three times over.”"

LFF programme updates & booking

The Times BFI 52nd London Film Festival is delighted to announce two additions to the 2008 programme in advance of public booking opening this weekend.

The UK premiere of Spike Lee’s MIRACLE AT ST ANNA will screen on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 October.

The UK premiere of Jesús Ponce’s LAZY DAYS (Dejate caer) will screen on Thursday 16 and Saturday 18 October.


Call for Submissions: Salisbury International Arts Festival : India, Water & Devotion

Salisbury International Arts Festival (22 May - 07 June 2009) is a multidiscipline Arts Festival with a strong programme of film screenings and associated talks, Q&A's, introductions and workshops. 

This year the Festival will focus on the following: 

Geographic Focus: India.  

Artistic Focus: Devotion / Spirituality.  

Environmental Focus: Water.

 We invite you to submit feature's, documentaries and shorts that relate to one or more of these themes. All screenings will be from DVD and entries must be on DVD or a computer playable digital format.  We are particularly interested hearing from directors, producers, actors, cinematographers etc who will be able to attended the screening of their film and talk about their work.
