BBC1's Dickens series Bleak House continues on its awards success run picking up eight BAFTA Craft nominations. The drama series received nominations for costume design, editing (fiction/entertainment), make-up and hair design, photography and lighting (fiction/entertainment), production design, sound (fiction/entertainment) and director.

BBC show Bleak House has won three TV critic awards. The adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel was named Best Drama Series at the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards. Charles Dance won Best Actor as evil lawyer Mr Tulkinghorn and Gillian Anderson took Best Actress for Lady Dedlock.

A new festival aimed at screening films in the most relaxed setting possible - the British pub - is opening its doors for submissions. And films are already rolling in, with more than 50 entries so far. Behind the Angel Film Festival are website entrepreneur Chris Timms, writer Rick Dickerson and charity consultant Terrie McCann supported by sponsorship from Production Base and Casting Call Pro.

Kodaks 15th Short Film Showcase will take place at BAFTA London in June 2006. An esteemed panel of industry judges will select eight short films to be screened to a voting audience. In-kind support has grown to an estimated £50,000 thanks to huge industry sponsorship from Technicolor, Panavision & Lee Lighting.

Carlton Screen Advertising has successfully won the Hollis Award for Best Low Budget Sponsorship. Carlton Screen Advertising and Huggies accepted the award for their Huggies Big Scream entry, the branded sponsorship of Picturehouse Cinemas' mother and child special film screenings.

New Directors/New Films, one of the most anticipated film events on the New York film calendar, celebrates its 35th anniversary of one of the key showcases of new international film talent. The Festival unspools 25 feature films and 5 shorts from March 22 through April 2, 2006. The program is presented jointly by the Film Society of Lincoln Center and The Department of Film and Media of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
