Winstone Drama Walks Football Tightrope

Ray Winstone stars in the new football dramaUK distributor Granada International is launching a Tightrope Pictures TV movie about a football manager, starring British actor Ray Winstone at MipTV. The film will air later this year.

All in the Game marks the first distribution pact between Tightrope and Granada and will air on UK terrestrial Channel 4 later this year. The film, a "powerful and gripping" depiction of the modern football industry, is produced by Hilary Bevan Jones, producer of the multi-award-winning limited series State of Play and Cracker, and is directed by Jim O'Hanlon (Waking the Dead, Shameless).

Winstone stars as a larger-than-life "bully-boy" football manager who, together with his son, has made a nice life for himself in the game, but not always through the most honest means. Now, however, his scams are starting to show through and suspicions are being raised.

"As a riveting drama about the 'beautiful game' and with the World Cup coming up this summer we're thrilled to be taking this to Mip," said Noel Hedges, head of drama at Granada International. "All in the Game is a top-quality piece of UK drama from a great writer with fantastic performances from a highly talented cast."
