The Bill Films Trafficking Episodes in Romania

Trafficking WomenBritish TV police drama The Bill is heading for Romania to film ground-breaking episodes on the misery of human trafficking. The programme's researchers have spent weeks in the Romanian capital of Bucharest with setting up action-packed scenes with local TV crew.

UK viewers will see Sun Hill favourites DS Sam Nixon and DS Phil Hunter, played by Lisa Maxwell and Scott Maslen lead a harrowing undercover mission.

A Bill insider said: "As far as we're concerned human trafficking is something that hasn't been tackled by a long-running show such as ours. It was thought The Bill could project the real-life drama in a positive way."

The cast and crew will spend around two weeks in Bucharest producing a two-part special for ITV1. A spokeswoman for the TV show said: "The special episodes will expose the misery of the human trafficking operations. They will be crammed with action and dramatic stunts."

The majority of women who are trafficked come from Eastern European countries like Poland and  Romania into what is virtually a life of slavery.
