Kodak Supports Emerging Filmmakers at Cannes

Kodak logoKodak is supporting emerging talent by hosting a week-long program designed to provide creative and business opportunities for the next generation of filmmakers. The Kodak Emerging Filmmaker Program is highlighted by the Ninth Annual Emerging Filmmaker Showcase comprised of films from award-winning new talent.

The screening takes place on May 18 at the Hotel Gray d'Albion at 6 p.m. Additional activities include sessions with industry professionals, company executives, and peers who have gathered from around the world. Films from the Kodak Emerging Filmmaker Program also will be featured at the Short Film Corner section of the Marche du Film throughout the duration of the festival.

"This initiative is designed to help emerging filmmakers bridge the gap between the completion of their formal education and the realization of their dreams," says Colette Scott, worldwide manager of Kodak's Education segment.

"Past participants have told us that they made important professional contacts and gained valuable insights into how the industry works. Kodak is proud to play a part in helping the next generation of filmmakers receive recognition for their work in front of an international audience."

The award-winning short films that comprise this year's showcase have been made by young filmmakers from the United States, Canada, Latin America, Australia and Germany. Many of the featured films were produced with the aid of Kodak product grants.
