Metin Huseyin now has a queer mix of UK talent at his disposal for the adaptation of Meera Syal's unique comedy Anita & Me.

Since Lynn Redgrave's decision to take a role in the film a fortnight back, such personalities as Kathy Burke, Ayesha Dharker and Max Beesley have joined the team that already includes Syal herself.

Adapted for screen by Syal, she also has a co-producer role, the £3m comedy has been funded by BBC Films, East Midlands Film Initiative and the Film Council, which has put in £688,000. Icon are handling with Starfield Productions, Take 3 and Syal’s Chest Wig & Flares Productions producing.
