To Malcolm Roughead, Director of Marketing, VisitScotland

I WAS appalled to read your report about the British Tourist Authority and how they have jumped on the bandwagon and used Harry Potter for the benefit of "Britain", ie, England.

Yet again Scotland produces the ideas, shows the way, and some ignoramus has the audacity to say, "the Scottish Highlands, strictly speaking, is not an attraction, just a backdrop".

Just a backdrop, where have they been since they were born? Surely not to Scotland, unless they had their eyes closed. Can you imagine anyone even thinking the Highlands are not an attraction? What are we comparing them to? The Tate Modern perhaps?
