Robson 'No More Nice Guy' Green

Tyneside heartthrob actor Robson Green, former star of TV series Soldier Soldier is to shed his nice guy image.

Green has always played roles with a rather wholesome image, but for his latest small screen role, the TV star is now turning to characters of a different kind. The one-time shipyard draughtsman has been signed up to play a promiscuous college lecturer in a black comedy, Dealing With Sunday.

His character in the drama becomes obsessed with sex following the death of his wife and he beds a number of his students, as well as his best friend’s wife and the nurse who cared for his own wife before she died.

Bob Portal, whose company Phantom Films is co-producing with Green’s own company Coastal Productions, said "Its about a college lecturer whose wife tragically dies of cancer at the beginning of the film. It’s how he comes to terms with that, which involves a lot of sleeping around, and all sorts of terrible things he gets up to. It’s a very black comedy, which I’m sure will touch many viewers."

Regular Emmerdale writer Peter Dillon has come up with the script and filming is due to start on location in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in October.

The female leads to play opposite Robson have yet to be decided.
