The internationally acclaimed School of Sound opens up
in Glasgow between the April 4-7, at the Royal Scottish
Academy of Singing and Dancing in Glasgows city
centre.
The school prides itself on not being a training course;
it won't teach you procedure or technique. But it does
promise that it will move you to say, "I never thought
of working that way."
For three years the School of Sound has offered film and
video makers an unequalled series of presentations on
the possibilities of sound with the moving image.
Through the school, directors, sound designers, composer,
editors and theoreticians have shown the soundtrack from
hundreds of new angles. Sonic environments, non-naturalistic
sound, sound as metaphor, human sound perception, sound
for multimedia - the topics have ranged from the practical
to the aesthetic to the metaphysical during these intense
four-day symposia.
