The film was bought direct from Kodak straight off the production line a few months ago and has been kept in a company refrigeration storage since that date. 32 years ago Stanley Kubrick created a visual realisation of a distant future, based on the short story, The Sentinel, by science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke.
In less than 3 months from now the time will arrive in which Kubrick's film was set and many of the themes covered in his film are as important to us now as they were then. The dawn of Man and growth of civilisation, the realisation of technology, and ultimately the fear that the technology we have created may betray or control us. This project sets out to present twenty works of film and animation based on Kubrick's vision, as response to, and comment on the many themes the film raises.
