Lo/No Budget Filmmaking Classes
Posted March 30
As a writer, director and producer, I have found that I learned more about writing from directing and producing than from reading those screenwriting books. You may want to learn how to,make a film for a limited budget that will assist you in cracking the industry, and if nothing more, have a whole lot of fun.
I have devised a class for you, which I have been teaching since 1994: How to shoot a 35mm feature film for under ten grand? Raindance, home of Britain's largest independent film festival, tells you how based on first hand experience working with dozens of commercially successful filmmakers. Presented by myself, Elliot Grove, this intensive weekend courses is Saturday April 7, Sunday April 8.
I should stress that I know absolutely nothing about filmmaking, did notgo to film school.Everything I teach I have learned from the bitter experience of trial and error! Added to the weekend is a whole day on marketing and selling based on what Raindance has learned, again the hard way, since 1993..If you don't find out ways to save at least ten times the cost of the course, Raindance will refund your course fee!

New Casting Agency
Posted March 23
I am a second year film student at UWCN who is in the process of setting up a casting agency for final productions/galleries. This service is free for artists and employers and was created as a network between the two so that it is easier for actors/models/voiceover artists...etc to get work and casting is one less thing to worry about for the filmmaker/photographer. I am also in the process of creating a website so external companies can view the talent on offer. In short, it helps all concerned. Any information or help you could supply would be greatly appreciated. I hope to hear from you soon.

Raindance Directing Masterclass
Posted 06/04/01
The most glamourous job in the film industry is that of director. Even if your directorial debut is a commercial disaster, if you have succeeded in giving the film `the look', your career will rocket. Why do so many British feature films, especially those by first time directors, fail to achieve this important artistic success? Why do so many directors fail to take the proper amount of time to ensure that their actors perform to the best of their abilities?
This intensive two-day seminar, presented by the legendary director, Patrick Tucker, teaches you the secrets of maximising performance from your cast while realising the importance of the ultimate audience - the film lens, all the while keeping the producer happy by shooting on-time and on-budget, and getting the visual results you want. NB: This weekend course contains a high content of hands-on involvement and participants must be prepared to study for at least one hour on Saturday night.

Model Citizen - AWOL

What ever happened to Model Citizen? There was a huge hype about it last year and filming was scheduled for October, does anybody know if it ever got into production? Writer is looking for success and not so successful stories from film makers. Productions that happened, nearly happened and barely got off the ground. I'd like to know what stumbling blocks you came up against, what you'd do differently if you did your time again, I'd like to know about you. I'm putting together a book about the UK film business from the independent side.

Short Film Producer
Posted 09/03/01
EGGSHELLS is a a short film set in Northern Italy which needs a Producer. The story concerns a mid-thirties magazine editor caught up the merry-go-round London life who falls pregnant. She flees London to an apartment on the outskirts of Pisa where she can re-group and sleep, but a series of disastrous and comic situations prevent her from entering the land of nod.
Ideally I would love to shoot a fully funded film on 35mm at the end of this year. My previous directing credits include a short film broadcast on Channel Four in 1998 and a documentary premiered at the London film festival 1996. I have a range of other directing and co-writing credits from documentaries to pop promos. If you would like to see these films or a script for Eggshells please contact earthpeople_productions@hotmail.com
