From the LFF's official press release:

Power to the Pixel; The Digital Distribution and Film Innovation Forum in partnership with The Times BFI London Film Festival returns for three days from 22-24 October at BFI Southbank and The Royal Society for Arts. In addition to a cutting-edge conference with expert speakers, the three-day event will launch both a ground-breaking Project Forum and the first phase of an ongoing Think Tank for invited experts who will brainstorm future models of independent film and media.

Following the success of last year’s conference, on October 22-23, Power to the Pixel will once again bring together leading industry experts to discuss how sustainable businesses and careers can be built in this new digital era. Topics for discussion will range from “The latest Financing and Distribution Models” to “Audience Behaviour” and “How to build Online Audiences and Fan-bases.” Confirmed speakers include Brian Newman (President, Tribeca Film Institute, USA), Sara Pollack (Manager of Film and Animation, YouTube, USA), Peter Buckingham (Head of Distribution & Exhibition, UK Film Council), Fabio Lima (CEO, MovieMobz & Rain Networks, Brazil), and  M Dot Strange (Award-winning Filmmaker and Animation Pioneer, USA).

Following the conference and workshop sessions, October 23 will see the launch of Power to the Pixel’s Project Forum that will take place in 2009 – a unique forum allowing creative talent and producers to bypass the traditional theatrical led model, meet new finance partners and tap into the changing behaviour and tastes of audiences. The first of its kind in the world, the event will encourage participants to examine online, mobile, and interactive models of distribution and will see four leading independent filmmakers present their cutting-edge visions to the financiers, distributors and promoters of tomorrow. The projects to be presented at the Launch that will provide an insight into next year’s Forum include: BREATHE by Yomi Ayeni (UK); AS THE DUST SETTLES by Arin Crumley (USA); DARK FIBRE by Jamie King (UK); and, HIM by Lance Weiler (USA).

The three-day event will culminate with the launch of a Think Tank for invited experts who will brainstorm the future of independent film and digital media strategies. This initial discussion will develop into a continuous and open forum for discussion online of the key challenges facing the creation, financing and distribution of independent film. Speakers due to contribute to the event also include Christy Dena, (Cross-media Strategist, AUS), Adam Erlebacher (Co-founder, PlaceVine, USA), Michael Gubbins (Editor, Screen International, UK), and C Cay Wesnigk (Founder of Onlinefilm.org, GER)

This year’s extended Power to the Pixel programme is made possible by principal funder Skillset with additional support from UK Film Council, FDMX, NESTA, Wonderland, Film London, the London Development Agency and Screen International.
