More about me
I've been trying my best to eke a living in the Film Industry whilst actually trying to stay in my home town of Leeds. Well, I'm still hanging on here in the North whilst avoiding the quaint village of London.

I did this thanks to a job at the Leeds International Film Festival, where I was the Press Coordinator and a programmer. I am currently the Director of Hull Film, which incorporates GLIMMER: The Hull International Short Film Festival.

Aside from exhibition, I am also a film journalist who writes for Little White Lies, Film And Festivals Magazine, Sci-Fi London and - of course - this very lovely website you're at now.

I started doing work for Netribution.co.uk a few years ago when I met one of the co-founders during my first year at the Edinburgh Film Festival. I am still here which is either a testimony to my dedication or due to the fact that the admins have been unable to delete my account.
Region (if UK)
West Yorkshire

Empire by Andy Warhol. Not a favourite of mine but it would be bloody funny.
Places I want to go before I die
New York, Toronto and The Moon. First two most likely.

R.E.M, Radiohead, The Dresden Dolls, Elbow, Neutral Milk Hotel, Michael Nyman, Philip Glass, Scott Walker, Black Lace

I wouldn't be writing this at the moment as I would battling the machinations of the evil Voldemort.
If I was an animal...
See the answer about my pet
If I was a fictional character
Who's to say I'm not. Deep, eh?
Best joke I know

Is the end of February already. It only feels like five minutes ago when the tinsel was all around and the Xmas decorations were up. Actually, it was, but that’s because Laurence Boyce has been dead busy watching a new batch of DVDs for you to all enjoy. Let .....

Now, as the holiday season has come to an end, it’s come to that time of year when you have loads of vouchers to spend (“Oh, thanks for that Auntie. A voucher I can spend in a specific shop, as opposed to money which I can spend – you know – anywhere”) and DVD’s to exchange for something better. So Special Edition # 36 is here to point you in the right di .....

Now available to buy on DVD, September remains one of the most affecting and beautiful British short films of the past few years. The film beat off stiff competition from the likes Sam Taylor Wood’s passionate and impressive Love You More to walk away with the 2009 BAFTA Award for Best Short Film (Live Action) to add to its numerous other awards a .....

Special Edition # 35 is  your special Xmas bumpercolumn with plenty (and we really mean plenty) of DVDs for you to be getting your teeth into. Laurence Boyce will point you in the right direction if you’re looking for presents or simply some ways to escape the endless rounds of Xmas television. So let’s get cracking with just what exactly Santa may put in your stocking over Christmas, e .....

Films, films and more films. And some TV shows. Yes, Special Edition# 34 has plenty of fun things for you this time around. It’s a good job the clocks went back or Laurence Boyce wouldn't know where to find the time…. It seems that all our directors have decided to have a l .....

Lots of new films this time around as Special Edition # 33 has more examples of Hollywood being unable to think of new ideas, a bunch of documentaries and the usual intriguing mix of world cinema and TV releases.Originally a BBC Drama, State Of Play (Universal .....

On a day where celebrities seemed to dropping like flies, it's a shame that the obits for British scriptwriter Troy Kennedy Martin  probably won't be as extensive as they should be. Needless to say the man was a man who had a hand in helping to create and write some of the best UK TV shows ever made including 'Z-Cars' and 'The Sweeney'. His .....

A bit of a British bonanza this time as Special Edition # 32 brings a pair of UK films which delve into two of British people’s favourite subjects: politics and football.  It’s a shame The Age Of Stupid isn’t out until October, otherwise we’d also have the weather.  Laurence Boyce also looks at the .....

It’s looking like a pretty quiet summer for blockbusters. Harry Potter has caused a stir but seems somehow slight, Transformers 2 has distinguished itself by being absolutely diabolical and Star Trek seems like ages ago. So, if you’re not fancying your local multiplex then Special Edition # 31 would seem to be the perfect option for all your film watching needs. L .....

Even though Laurence Boyce is getting ready to visit a mass of summer music festivals, he’s still ploughing through all the latest DVDs as Special Edition # 30 amply illustrates. This time around: Clint Eastwood impresses, someone actually makes a sequel to Donnie Darko and – as always – there’s a little bit of old school Doctor Who.
