| The British Council Films, Television and Video Department 11 Portland Place London W1N 4EJ Tel 020 7389 3066 Fax 020 7389 3041 www.britfilms.com Overview The British Council promotes cultural, educational and technical co-operation between Britain and other countries with the aim of developing partnerships and fostering international understanding. As part of this work the film, television and video department organises the presentation of productions through offices in 109 countries around the world. Support The British Council selects some completed short films annually for official entry into key film festivals. While not guaranteeing selection, the support greatly increases the chances of a festival showing a film and the department carries out the organisation of entries and delivery of prints. For shorts not selected a comprehensive directory of all international film festivals is available for purchase. The British Films Catalogue is an annual directory of all feature and short film productions produced in Britain. In addition to synopses and credits a sales contact can be included to assist in marketing to film buyers. The catalogue often acquired by acquisition executives and is now available online. The British Council also organises Film UK at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, an annual open showcase of UK productions. |
