Overview

First Cut is a funding scheme co-financed with Carlton Television and the Film Council, and produced in partnership with similar First Cut schemes in the East Midlands region (see East Midlands Media Initiative) and Southern Arts region (see Lighthouse). Assistance is given to applicants in the preparation of proposals either directly or at a number of roadshows attended by MDA staff and previous filmmakers under the scheme.

Funding and Support

First Cut

First Cut supports the production of innovative 5 or 10 minute drama, documentary and animation productions for broadcast on Carlton Television and theatrical distribution where possible. Guidance notes are available to assist applicants in the presentation of projects, which must fit within an annual theme.
