Eligible Funding Region - Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent, Warwickshire and the Metropolitan districts of the West Midlands.

Overview

West Midlands Arts runs a number of schemes suitable for film and video projects in the region. The main film and video scheme, Creative Ambitions, relates to the use of the moving image in fine art only, such as gallery-based work and experimental film and animation. Other film and video projects should approach the Media Development Agency for the West Midlands which runs the First Cut award scheme.

Funding and Support

Creative Ambitions - Artist's Film and Video, Digital Media

Awards of between £500 and £5,000 are available for artist using the moving image medium in the practice of fine art. Funding can support both creative and business research and development of ideas, issues, materials and technologies and the actual production of new work for exhibition or publication.

Go and See Awards

Funding is available to develop professional creative practice and experience by enabling individuals to attend conferences, seminars and related events to stimulate new ideas, expand knowledge and extend awareness of critical debates.

Grass Roots Arts Fund and Youth Arts Fund

Grants of between £150 and £2,000 to support involvement of arts activities and projects with professional artists. The Youth Arts Funds is aimed at young people aged 12-24 and the Grass Roots Arts Fund is aimed at projects in rural areas and individuals not normally able to become involved in arts activities.
