Directors and writers must be resident in the region, but producers based outside the South West region will be considered. Overview The South West Media Development Agency has formed partnerships with two regional ITV companies, Carlton West Country and HTV West, to create the South West Production Fund. The Fund supports live action short film production and the development of feature film scripts, and looks for strong, highly original projects set in the region. Short films should be completed for delivery on formats suitable for both theatrical and broadcast television distribution. Funding and Support The South West Production Fund / Carlton West Country Region The Fund will make awards of £15,000 to £22,000 for the production of short fiction films for cinema exhibition and broadcast in the Carlton West Country region. Projects must be up to 12 minutes duration and set in the Carlton West Country coverage area (Cornwall, Isles of Scilly, Devon, Torbay, Plymouth, West Dorset, Weymouth, Portland and parts of Taunton Deane and South Somerset). The South West Production Fund / HTV West Region The Fund will make two annual awards of up to £28,000 for the production of short fiction films for cinema exhibition and broadcast in the HTV West region. Projects must be of 12 minutes duration and set in the HTV West coverage area (Forest of Dean, Stroud, Costswold, South Gloucestershire, Bristol, North Somerset, Bath, North East Somerset, Mendip, Sedgemoor, West Somerset, Taunton Deane, Yeovil and North Dorset). Feature Film Script Development / Carlton West Country Region The Fund can make grants of up to £5,000 to assist in the development of second draft of projects set in the South West intended for production as a feature film. The award can be used to cover a writer's subsistence, research costs and development related expenditure. A producer and production company should be attached to a project at the time of the application. Kodak Sponsorship Additional support for a short film production funded by the Fund comes from Kodak Professional Motion Imaging with the provision of £1,000 of stock. Picture This Moving Image The South West Media Development Agency is a core funder of Picture This, a Bristol based production centre. Support includes open advice surgeries, production and completion facilities bursaries and a Short Film Award of between £2,000 and £7,000. |
