In addition to the following funding sources, Lighthouse runs a free advice service on production issues, a screenwriter development scheme, a distribution scheme with local cinemas and promotion at the Clermont Ferrand short film market for supported films. Training courses are also run covering screenwriting and technical skills. Lighthouse is focussed on short films and does not become involved in features or productions over 30 minutes. Funding and Support Taped Up Deadline(s): 30/3/01 Total Funds Available: £15,000 Lighthouse co-produces an annual short film production scheme with Meridian Broadcasting, commissioning 6 short films, each six minutes in length. Each film receives £2,500, production advice and non-linear editing equipment. The completed films are broadcast within the Meridian region. First Cut Deadline(s): 5/3/01 Total Funds Available: £20,000 In partnership with the Media Development Agency for the West Midlands, Intermedia and Carlton Broadcasting, Lighthouse commissions 2/3 short films for broadcast in the First Cut series. Films must address the theme for the series (this year it is "Space") and be either 5 or 10 minutes in length. Budgets are up to £10,000 per film. Post Production Bursary Deadline(s): 2/4/01 and 1/5/01 Total Funds Available: free equipment - see below Twice a year Lighthouse offer a bursary worth two weeks of non-linear editing for shorts less than 12 minutes in duration. The award is aimed at filmmakers who have raised sufficient funds to complete photography and who have at least two years' experience. Take Two - Dance for the Screen Deadline: Autumn Total Funds Available: £4,000 Take Two, an annual scheme specifically aimed at bringing filmmakers and choreographers into collaboration is co-produced by Lighthouse.
