In addition to two funding sources, producers filming on the island are offered support in making film and television productions through technical facilities at the Manx Multimedia Centre, a directory of local services available to productions and a location search and clearance service. Due to its diverse scenery the island effectively doubles for many outside locations. Funding The Isle of Man Film and Television Fund can provide an equity investment usually up to 25% of a film or television production's budget and, in the case of productions being co-financed by a television broadcaster, a Production Credit grant of up to £350,000. An equity investment by the Fund can be combined with a Production Credit to create the optimum financial structure. Qualification requires at least 50% of principal photography to be filmed on the island, and at least 20% of the below the line costs incurred with local service providers. A production must also be otherwise fully financed, completion bonded and have a sales agent or distributor attached. A project's commercial aspects will be considered and are a key element in funds being advanced. |
