The organisation strongly recommends that projects are discussed with the department officer in advance of an application. Funding and Support First Cut Deadline(s):Annually Total Funds Available: £30,000 In partnership with Carlton Television, Southern Arts and West Midlands Arts EMA produces an annual series of short films funded for broadcast in the local Carlton region. Any format can be utilised provided the completed films are of broadcast quality, and the applicant must have no prior directorial credit on broadcast television. Productions must be five or ten minutes duration with funding set at £1,000 per minute. The combined duration of the films is to be 30 minutes. All genres can be supported including animation and documentary productions, but must fit within an annual theme. Appraisal Services for Writers: Screen Test Deadline(s): Ongoing Among several writing appraisal schemes, the Screen Test service for film and video makers and scriptwriters offers professional evaluation and advice on short scripts. New Work and Commissions Scheme Aimed at newly established professional film makers with demonstrable range of relevant work, the New Work and Commissions Scheme supports the creation of new work at three stages: research and development, production and distribution. There must be a clear need for funding at a realistic level and partnership funding must be introduced. The level of budget for a project must be financially viable but fees must not be less than the appropriate professional body such as Equity or the Musician's Union. |
