In partnership with other funders, such as the Arts Council of Wales, Film Council, the broadcasters and facility providers, Sgrin runs a variety of short film schemes. These schemes offer a range of opportunities for new, intermediate and more experienced film-makers to make challenging and innovative films for the international market. A range of complimentary support and advice is offered to individuals, including one-to-one meetings relating to specific projects. Invited industry experts and film-makers are brought together for business surgeries, establishing a network of finance and distribution contacts. And, specific advice relating to the Lottery is provided, in conjunction with Sgrîns role as assessor and advisor to the Arts Council of Wales. Wales has an extensive pool of talented television producers, which the Department aims to enhance further via new sources of funding, information and networking. For individuals and companies outside of Wales, the Department functions as a link to an array of individuals, organisations and potential funders, helping projects to be realised.
