An award could focus on a specific area or a community of people, and covers the cost of training, research, planning, producing and distribution. Projects are realised with the support of local partners in each area able to provide technical facilities and advice. Commedia encourages applications from individuals who do not often get the opportunity to use the media, particularly those under 25 or over 50, from ethnic minorities or the disabled. Funding and Support Awards of between £1,000 and £5,000 can be made, with £3,000 expected to be the average award. Projects are planned and budgeted with help from the relevant local partner and awards can be used to cover costs such as equipment hire, stock and duplication. It is likely that the local partners, who are generally media centres, will have discounted facilities available. Awards for All For regional office call 0845 600 20 40 or visit www.awardsforall.org.uk Overview Awards for All is a national grants programme supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Arts Council of England and the National Lottery Charities Board. The scheme aims to help small groups to fund projects that involve people in their local community, including arts activities. Applications can be made at ant time and decisions are made quickly. Grants of between £500 and £5,000 are available for projects such as holding an event, activity or performance, providing training courses, running a conference or seminar, start up costs and equipment and materials. Most groups are expected to contribute something towards the project costs, which may be in cash or in kind. Due to demand for funds awards are expected to be in the £500 and £2,500 range. The Awards for All programme is designed for local community groups with a particular emphasis on those with an annual income of under £15,000. Groups must operate on a not-for-profit basis, have a constitution and in the case of established groups enclose recent annual accounts or a statement of income and expenditure. Grants will not be made for general running costs for current activities, regular rent payments, items which only benefit an individual, loan payments, debts or foreign trips. |
