Videos should aim to explore life in Belfast with passion, commitment and invention. Previous awards include profiles of local people and documentaries of Belfast community groups. Funding and Support Hometown First time and established video makers may apply to make a video with cash awards up to £3,000 and the provision of a digital video camera and non-linear editing equipment. Emphasis is given to fiction or documentary projects that look at a particular community, a portrait of a person or a video motivating people to act and effect change. Made in Belfast A smaller scale award of £300 and video facilities is available to produce a five minute video. In the case of first time video makers training workshops will also be offered. Overview The Croydon Film and Video Awards are a production and training initiative jointly funded by the London Film and Video Development Agency, Croydon Arts and in-Movies.co.uk. Clocktower Arts also runs several media activities such as production training courses, the Up Close talks with established filmmakers and discounted production services. Croydon Film and Video Awards The Awards scheme leads to the production of three short documentaries and three short dramas with final running times of 5 minutes and with a guaranteed cinema screening at the David Lean Cinema and an internet broadcast by in-movies.co.uk. Drama projects should have a cast of three significant speaking roles and for documentary production a maximum of two main interviewees. The awards follow a four step structure covering development, pre-production, shooting and post-production. At each stage time is spent with industry professionals in classes and in meetings in preparation for the next stage. Production teams will then be formed and successful projects will be given a notional budget of £2,000 consisting of credit for Avid hire and an editor, shooting, editing, and administrative facilities at Clocktower and £600 in cash. Discounted Production Services Clocktower Arts can provide a S-VHS edit suite, a Canon XL1 camera, a S-VHS camera, lights and accessories at discounted rates. Membership is required at £15-£20 per annum. Up Close A series of talks is held with industry professionals covering topics such as funding schemes, new forms of media distribution and how to organise productions. Courses Short courses covering topics such as Video Production, Directing Film and Video Drama and Scriptwriting for Short Films are frequently held at the Clocktower. Eligible Funding Region - Anyone can make an application provided the project benefits the Swindon area. Overview Cre8 Studios is the community resource for film, video, sound and photography in Swindon. In addition to providing technical facilities the studio offers workshops, production advice, training programmes and a screenwriting advice service. First Stop Grants of up to £4,000 towards equipment hire and £500 cash awards for video, animation and multimedia projects. Students are ineligible if the project is part of coursework. Express Express is a scaled down version of First Stop aiming to deliver a quick response and decision on funding applications. Grants of up to £1,000 towards equipment hire and £100 cash awards are available, in addition to free advice and training on the equipment to be used for a project. Emphasis is placed on projects where applicants express themselves in a creative and imaginative way. Overview The newly established Tower Hamlets Film and Video Production Fund brings together resources from the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, the Cultural Industries Development Agency, the London Film and Video Development Agency and the East London Film Fund (ERDF). Funding and Support The Fund can make awards of worth up to £4,500 to support the production of drama, animation or experimental films of up to 10 minutes duration and documentaries of up to 30 minutes duration. Contributions from the Fund comprise of up £2,500 in cash and up to £2,000 worth of resources at local production centre, Team Pictures in the form of script and production advice, Beta video camera hire, off-line and on-line editing with an experienced operator and duplication services. The scheme aims to support a diverse range of film of all genres, formats and subject matter. Funding and Support £8,000 is available to assist production or completion of projects, divided between at least two productions. |
