I Cine Fest Brasil London

17th to 20th September 2009 - Riverside Studios, Hammersmith

For the first time in London, the I Cine Fest Brasil is presenting 20 productions, comprising feature films, documentaries and short films, from a range of different genres including everything from blockbuster hits to talented-newcomer discoveries.

As part of this fantastic program we are highlighting the acclaimed documentary Smoking I Wait from director Adriana Dutra. Smoking I Wait is a film about the struggle and challenges of a person trying to quit smoking.

A heavy, two-packs-a-day smoker for more than 20 years, Adriana L. Dutra, actress and director of Brazilian film festivals abroad, posed the question to herself: why, after all, it is so hard to quit smoking?

What started out as personal interest, grew into an extensive research on the topic. However, Smoking I Wait, goes beyond the traditional dimension of a self-focused documentary. Testimonials by anonymous and famous people reveal their battles with cigarettes, while advertising executives, lawyers, sociologists and doctors analyze techniques of diffusion, and the consequences of the use of nicotine and its high levels of chemical and psychological dependency.

SMOKING I WAIT (U) will be screened at 1pm on 19th September at Riverside Studios,

Crisp Rd, Hammersmith, London W6 9RL

Tickets: 020 8237 1111 or book online on www.riversidestudios.co.uk
