three ages Legendary techno DJ Jeff Mills 2005 accompaniment of Buster Keaton's classic The Three Ages is one of the highlights offered by Leeds AV Group lookandlisten during the Leeds Film Festival. Other events include their residency at the Reform bar,  Sundaze Synerma's live remix of Sylvain Chomet's Belleville Rendezvous and Fire Shepherds, the fan-generated album of music videos from Ninja Tune's Loka.

from lookandlisten:

lookandlisten be letting off some indoor fireworks in their resident night at the reform bar on sunday 5th november. the night features a live set of gently absorbing electronica from sheffields own feedle, complemented by visuals from more sheffield residents, the media lounge. medlo will also serve up a live a/v set featuring their own brand of cut n paste antics. perched on top of this crackling pile are dj munster and vj alternative perspective, letting off an eclectic selection of electroindiefunk, no doubt including the legendary arthur brown and some pictures of burning stuff.

look and listen flyer doors open 8pm and stay open til late (for a sunday), tickets are £4 on the door or £3 in advance or from leeds film festival box offices

the following friday (10th), lookandlisten are hugely proud to be presenting the work of pioneering film director buster keaton, reinterpreted for the 21st century by legendary techno dj jeff mills. the night showcases keatons ‘three ages’ complemented to perfection by mills masterfully arranged electronica score.

doors open 8pm, tickets are £4.50 on the door, or £3.50 in advance from film festival box offices.

having set up camp in the subculture, lookandlisten will be staying for a second night, on saturday 11th, and bringing more sheffield folk in to play. the sundaze synerma collective, along with ed from winter north altlantic, present their live rescore to cult animated film ‘belleville rendezvous’. the score features specially composed and improvised musical selections, alongside selected dj cuts, all chosen to complement the film to perfection. the night also features a screening of the album ‘fire shepherds’ from ninja tune signed band loka. the cinematic psychedelia of loka is crying out to be animated, which is what they did by running a competition to create videos for each track on the album. this is only the second public screening for this audio visual blend. once again dj munster and vj alternative perspective will be clashing in an audio/visual battle.

doors open 8pm and stay open late, tickets are £4.50 on the door, or £3.50 in advance from film festival box offices.
