Arriving always in an expensive car, a Porche, Range Rover or Ferrari - and usually always a different one each time he appeared, Richard Maskery created the illusion of being a successful film producer, offering to buy expensive property, but never paying for it, persuading local builders to make alterations to house his fleet of cars.
Matthew Gowen, prosecuting, said: "He lived in a fantasy world in which he gave himself the persona of a film producer and film financier."
To many people in Suffolk it seemed as though Richard Maskery could indeed be the successful movie producer he claimed to be waving documents with the company heading of Saracen Entertainment, but today at Ipswich Crown Court 37-year old Maskery began an 18 month jail sentence for dishonesty and deception.
