Lottery Consultation Boosts Film Council Funding Print E-mail
Written by James MacGregor Friday, 07 July 2006

National Lottery LogoResponses to the government's National Lottery Consultation mean that the UK Film Council is to receive a funding boost. Consultation was carried out in the first three months of this year by an on-line questionnaire, accessed through Regional Screen Agencies.

The sector did a terrific job in speaking up for film, the result being that Lottery cash for film has been safeguarded over the next 10 years. In addition, next year an extra £3 million a year will be transferred from Arts Council England to the UK Film Council to be ploughed back into film activity.

Film received a bigger endorsement than any other good cause with 8,000 responses supporting Lottery funding for film.
