Channel 4's hit comedy drama series Shameless looks set to dominate the Royal Television Society Awards for a second successive year after picking up the most nominations for this year's ceremony. Four nominations came the show's way including for Best Drama and Best Writer for Paul Abbott.
The show's Anne Marie Duff has been nominated in the Best Actress category. David Threlfall is up for Best Actor. Other shows up for gongs include the Channel 4 comedy series Peep Show. Although neither of its two stars – Robert Mitchell and Robert Webb – received individual nominations, the show is in the Best Sitcom and Comedy Drama category. Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong have also received a nomination in the Best Writer category and will go up against Brian Dooley, of The Smoking Room, and the team behind the BBC's The Thick of It.
