DepicT! '08: Call for Entries Print E-mail

Now in its tenth year, ultra-short film competition DepicT! continues to celebrate the imagination, style, emotion, drama, mystery, humour and passion that can be packed into one captivating mini-movie. Can you do it in 90 seconds?DepicT!

DepicT! offers emerging filmmakers the opportunity to win a range of unique prizes and to gain priceless exposure through Encounters Short Film Festival, the Digital Screen Network, depict.org and beyond.  Judges, who in the past have included directors Peter Jackson, Terry Gilliam and Royston Tan, film critic Nigel Floyd and Aardman Animations’ David Sproxton, are looking to discover distinctive voices which evidence originality, creativity and the ability to engage the viewer.



  • First Prize: £2000 cash
  • NFTS DepicT! Special Mention Prize: a place on a short course at the National Film and Television School in 2009, including travel bursary
  • Shooting People DepicT! Audience Award: a lifetime membership to and bundle of goodies from Shooting People
  • All shortlisted filmmakers will also receive an Encounters Network Delegate pass with all the trimmings, including a place on the popular Encounters Film School, opportunities for travel bursaries to attend the festival and a one-year membership to Shooting People

If you’ve made a short film over 90 seconds, you can still enter it into Encounters Short Film Festival (Bristol,  UK, from Tue 18 - Sun 23 Nov '08)

DepicT! is a Watershed project as part of Encounters International Short Film Festival sponsored by Aardman Animations and Films at 59. With support from Arts Alliance Media, BBC Film Network, Independent Cinema Office, National Film and Television School and Shooting People.
