Neil at the Accidental Festival - a student-run shindig at the ICA running May 21st-24th, writes in with details about this year's event, calling for submissions The film element of the festival this year is under the guiding theme of Provoke: Who is Watching You.Performers are invited to apply to join The Accidental Festival at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in May 2008 Performance Arts students at The Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London, will once again curate the Accidental Festival this year at the prestigious ICA from the 21st to the 24th May. The aim of this year's festival is to enable acts from over the globe to exhibit and perform their work in a professional and inspiring environment, joining students from The Central School of Speech and Drama to create an eclectic mix of art forms under the theme of ‘Provoke'. The festival will include not only performances, but also works ranging from performance art and live instillations, cinematic events to live music, workshops, and round table discussions. ‘Now in its third year at the ICA, the Accidental Festival has become a highlight of Central's calendar. It is an incredible privilege for Central's second year Performance Arts students to have the opportunity to curate a festival of new work at the internationally renowned ICA. The value of this project as a learning opportunity is immeasurable, but I also sincerely believe that the event stands in its own right as a festival of new performance that does not need to apologise for itself as only student work. The calibre of established and emergent contributors - from around the world - is consistently impressive. Students have a way of getting people to say yes that eludes those of us in institutional positions. I have no doubts that this year's team will build on the successes of the previous two years, and create a vibrant and provocative event that reaches out to new audiences. I wish them every success'.
