London Film Festival 2007 update Print E-mail

There are 7 days left to go until the 51st London Film Festival opens its doors throughout the city for the 16 day Festival.

As part of the London Film Festival, Trafalgar Square will play host to a celebration of London as captured on archive films. There will be a big screen with live piano accompaniments. The event is free, and will be at 6:30pm on Thursday 18th October and Friday 19th October.

Alfred Hitchcock's Blackmail will be screened with Blue Bottles on the first night, whilst Capital Tales on the second evening will take you through over 100 years of London on film, from 1896 onwards.

 

Attending the Opening Night Gala on Wednesday 17th  October for the UK premiere of Eastern Promises will be director David Cronenberg, accompanied by Naomi Watts, Vincent Cassel and Armin Mueller-Stahl.

Other stars slated to appear in London include Halle Berry (Things We Lost in the Fire), Sean Penn
(Into the Wild) and John Cusack (Grace is Gone).

Other events include a Screen Talk with Laura Linney; a Masterclass with Harmony Korine and the presenting of the Variety UK Achievement in Film Award to Paul Greengrass. 

British filmmaking will be represented by Nick Broomfield with Battle for Haditha, Penny Woolcock with Exodus and Asif Kapadia with Far North.

The festival will close on Thursday 1st November with The Darjeeling Limited. Director Wes Anderson and stars Jason Schwartzman, Amara Karan and Camilla Rutherford are expected to attend.
