Mumbai's rail commuters may find an unusual fellow-traveller this week in UK Prime Minister-in-waiting Gordon Brown, making his first official visit to India. It is believed that security permitting, he will take a trip on a local on the route of the 7/11 bombing atrocity. The UK Chancellor will also be visiting Yash Raj Films in Andheri.  

Mr Brown is leading a high-profile 150-strong trade delegation, accompanied by Alistair Darling, UK trade and commerce minister. The visit will take the delegation to meetings in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi and since the focus of the trip is clearly  to increase trade and economic ties between Britain and India the forthcoming India/UK Film Co-Production Treaty is almost certain to feature in those talks. The Chancellor will be in India from January 17 to 19.
