On Thursday 20th May 2010 Leeds filmmaker and former radio presenter Danny Lacey will broadcast live and uninterrupted on the internet for a full 24 hours in a bid to secure £2,000 worth of funding towards his next short film project, LOVE LIKE HERS.

Danny has been planning his new short film for the last six months and charting his filmmaking adventure in intricate detail through his film blog, on twitter and in 1 hour live broadcasts online every fortnight. The budding writer/producer/director aims to rally support from viewers with his open and honest account of the filmmaking process and has set himself the ultimate goal of achieving Academy Award success in the short film category within the next three years.

On Friday 21^st August 2009 Gadabout Productions are streaming live behind-the-scenes action from the set of the new British movie ‘Love/Loss' staring BAFTA-winning actors Virginia McKenna and Keith Michell.  

Film fans will be able to watch live, unedited footage of cast and crew on set by clicking on the Love-Loss website www.love-loss.com. The webcam will follow all the rehearsals and filming from 9.00am until the film wraps at approximately 7.00pm @ www.love-loss.com/live

Virginia McKenna and Keith Michell will also be joined on set by Diana Quick, Geoffrey Whitehead and Strictly Come Dancing's Len Goodman who is making a guest appearance as the village dance club teacher in the movie.

‘Love/Loss' is a moving story of love, life and death and has been filmed entirely on location in and around Knebworth for the last two weeks. The webcam will capture key internal scenes from the final day of the shooting and will take place at an undisclosed location.

The 90-minute film is written and directed by documentary filmmaker and web TV specialist Guy Daniels and produced by Gitte Daniels. Gadabout Productions are currently in the process of securing a distributor for Love/Loss.

Elliot Grove, the founder of Raindance and the British Independent Film Awards is to be awarded an honorary doctorate on the 16th of July by Plymouth College of Art, member of the Open University, the largest university in the world.

Elliot created the Raindance Film Festival in 1992, and it is now recognised as the largest independent film festival in the UK (Guardian), and one of the leading festivals in the world (Variety and Screen International top 100 lists). The festival was set up to nurture and celebrate independent film from the UK and around the world, and holds one of the UK’s strongest distribution pick up rates for any film festival. He also set up the British Independent Film Awards, now in its 12^th year, the IPTV channel Raindance.TV and the Independent Film Trust, set up to support children from disadvantaged or disabled backgrounds communicate through filmmaking.

The Raindance Training programme has helped shape the view and delivery of film training throughout the UK, and has supported alumni from beginning filmmakers to Oscar ™ and British Academy winning figures. For this reason the Open University has decided to recognise his commitment to ‘Services to Education’.

To celebrate the doctorate, Plymouth College of Art and Raindance have announced an exciting series of events that will pave the way for the two to collaborate on a unique and ground-breaking film-making programme that will launch at the College in September 2010 through the joint development of a new foundation degree in independent filmmaking.

Joining the Docs, the pioneering on-demand documentary channel, has today released UK documentary Us Now for free for a limited period via its new website www.joiningthedocs.tv.

Us Now is a UK documentary film about the power of mass collaboration, government and the Internet. It is a description of a world on the cusp of the greatest social change since the invention of the printing press. It confronts politicians George Osborne and Ed Milliband with the possibilities for participative government as described by Don Tapscott and Clay Shirky amongst others.

Joining the Docs features a wide range of films made by passionate, committed directors from Europe, North America and Asia. Titles released in recent months include the Oscar short-listed IOUSA, The Unwinking Gaze and The Putin System.

FUTURE CINEMA, the creators of SECRET CINEMA, are proud to announce the launch of SECRET SCREENINGS, a new monthly film club bringing surprise screenings to cinemas around the UK. The event launches on May 2^nd in LONDON, BRIGHTON and EDINBURGH and a single mystery film will be shown simultaneously across these venues.

Future Shorts dances with love this February with the launch of an exclusive selection of short films inspired by love, sex, happiness and everything in between. Premiering at the Brixton Ritzy on Valentines weekend, the programme will then tour the UK.

Films include the beautiful and haunting 'Little Minx Exquisite Corpse: Come Wander With Me' - part of a fascinating project inspired by a surreal parlour game, ‘Wrestling,' Grímur Hákonarson's love story about two gay wrestlers living in rural Iceland and ‘Top Girl' a tender truthful and brutally comic tale set in Brixton.  Love and happiness in all its twisted forms will be explored in a cinema experience like no other.

In association with the BFI, Future Shorts are also proud to present a rarely seen short from Jeff Keen, a leading light of the British experimental film scene, which will be shown ahead of the main programme.

News in about the most recent not-so-secret-anymore Secret Cinema, Future Cinema/Nokia's immersive cinema experience night.

FUTURE CINEMA in association with NOKIA hosted a sell-out SECRET CINEMA at the Royal Horticultural Halls on Friday. Guests arrived in Westminster to find the venue and surrounding streets transformed into 80s New York and joined the live performers to pay homage to the comedy classic Ghostbusters. In the biggest live event of its kind SECRET CINEMA entertained over 1,100 revellers and a simultaneous screening took place at the Corn Exchange in the seaside town of Brighton.

The location of the screening was only revealed on Thursday morning to SECRET CINEMA members who had signed up at www.secretcinema.org. Members were notified of the venue by email and told only to wear their finest 80s attire. Guests were then entertained by a host of energetic performers in Ghostbuster costume, Ecto-1 and NYC cops patrolled the streets and free hot dogs and pretzels were served. After the main show SECRET CINEMA hosted an exclusive after show party.

Future Shorts have announced the line-up for their new world festival, ‘Fresh'. Now in its fifth year, the largest short film festival in the UK, Future Shorts will host screenings across over 30 cinemas and venues across the UK and 35 countries worldwide every quarter from October 2008. From November (7th - 26th) they will be supporting the Guillemots live tour, where the band will be exclusively rescoring a selection of Future Shorts films - beautifully fusing film and music in sixteen of the UK's most intriguing alternative venues.

The short film festival will premier to inmates at Wandsworth Prison on 11^th October and includes a unique and exclusive collection of short films including Wes Anderson's charming and comical ‘Hotel Chevalier' starring Natalie Portman, a special preview of the Cinematic Orchestra's ‘To Build A Home', music videos from Gnarls Barkley, a secret film from Future Short's new DVD title ‘Adventures in Short Film' and Australian festival hit ‘I love Sarah Jane'.
